About Me

Welcome to Maya Therapy
Kia Ora, I'm Mayuri

I have a wealth of experience working with people struggling with their mental health and trauma both in India and New Zealand. My clients have experienced significant improvement working with trauma, loss, anxiety, professional growth, relationships, and marriage.

Humans on day to day basis have high expectations if not demands from our lives, our minds, and our bodies. We want our bodies to look a certain way, to be able to perform a certain way, to be able to not feel pain or feel the loss.

We demand more and more from ourselves while we do not necessarily provide ourselves with tools or skills to protect our bodies and mind. We do not always develop skills that are needed to match our expectations to our reality.

Counseling therapy can help you develop the necessary skills and get insight into your life, the choices you make, how it affects you, and what necessary steps need to be taken to change your situation.

I provide you with a safe environment where you can be true to yourself, I am non-judgemental, accepting, and understanding. From my education, training, and experience I can provide you with tools to develop skills, to improve your insight into your situation. These insights can help you develop an efficient plan to achieve the goals you want to set for yourself.

I graduated with a Master’s in Applied Psychology from the University of Mumbai, India, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Applied Health Sciences wellness and rehabilitation in New Zealand.

Through my employment as a youth mental health worker In New Zealand, I completed a diploma apprenticeship in mental health and addiction.

WHY SEE A THERAPIST?

  • Therapy sessions are confidential. Friends and/or family aren’t always discrete.
  • Therapists are objective. Friends and/or family have views colored by your relationship with them.
  • Psychologists/therapists are qualified to deal with mental health concerns. Friends and/or family aren’t necessarily.
  • What if friends and/or family are causing problems? In such instances, therapists can provide a safe space for you to talk about what’s affecting them.
  • You can’t discuss everything with friends and/or family openly without judgment.

Going to therapy sessions can help you cope with your mental health concerns and improve your quality of life. Whether it’s talking therapy, psychotherapy, or counseling, mental health counseling can help you overcome the problems you face in life that overwhelm you.

"Mental health is not a destination, but a process. It's about how you drive, not where you're going." –Noam Spencer, PhD.
